Takeoff – Finnair Trainee Program is a unique opportunity to learn more about the aviation industry and Finnair as an organisation. The trainee program brings together the most motivated and dynamic high performers to add their fresh and new insights to a highly competitive and challenging aviation industry.
As a Finnair trainee, you are a solid part of the team from the very beginning. You will work as a full-time member of our experienced teams and gain practical and hands-on work experience during your trainee program. As a trainee, your responsibilities will depend on your background, capabilities, and own preferences.
We want you to make the most of your trainee period at Finnair, so in addition to your daily work, you’ll have a chance to get familiar with our different business units, explore the industry from various perspectives and get to know our people across the organisation. And as the cherry on top, you can support each other and share your experiences with your fellow trainees during the program.
Takeoff is aimed at students and recent graduates from the field of Business, Economics, Technology, or other relevant area. It is a paid, full-time trainee program lasting from 4 to 6 months, starting flexibly in March-May. The trainees work in different teams around the Finnair campus near Helsinki Airport or in a hybrid model combining in-office and remote work.

- Close to academic graduation or recently graduated expert within the field of Business, Economics, Technology, or other relevant area (typically, our trainees are at least 3rd year students)

Finnair Trainee Program 2024 — takeoff into the world of aviation
In summer 2024, Finnair welcomed eleven trainees to take part in the Finnair Trainee Program after a two-year break. These students, from diverse academic backgrounds, contributed fresh perspectives across various units of the organisation, while gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the unique and dynamic aviation industry.

The application period for the Finnair Trainee Program starts around October-November and is open for three weeks.
You can submit your application to the trainee program from our career site. Fill in all the information asked for on the form and attach your CV, cover letter and transcript of records. Please note that we do not process applications submitted via email.
Yes, you can apply for several positions. You can choose your preferred field(s) for your trainee period on the application form.
Our ideal candidate is currently pursuing or has completed an academic degree within the field of Business, Economics, Technology, or other relevant area (typically, our trainees are at least 3rd year students). We require strong communication skills in English and in some positions also in Finnish. During the trainee period, you must be able to work full-time.
Please note that depending on the work role, the hiring process may include a pre-employment security clearance, a drug test and/or a pre-employment medical examination.

Takeoff – Finnair Trainee Program will start flexibly in spring
The trainee period starts flexibly in spring. However, the starting time can vary depending on the business needs and also your study schedule. The trainee period lasts from 4 to 6 months.
The monthly salary for the trainee period is €2,900. All trainees have the same salary.
We support the health and wellbeing of our employees through our own Sickness Fund insurance benefit, gyms around the Finnair campus and activities organised by our hobby clubs. We are also happy to offer our employees a discount on Finnair-operated flights.
Depending on your position, you will work around the Finnair campus near Helsinki Airport or in a hybrid work model combining in-office and remote work. Please note that as a trainee, you cannot work solely remotely.
Some trainees have continued to work with us part-time, permanently, or as Master’s Thesis workers after their trainee period.
Yes, you can. However, you must have the right to work and live in Finland during the trainee program without sponsorship from Finnair.
